This improvisational performance ensemble combines rhythm, melody, and movement rooted in Deep Listening. Their performance is a conversation between artists in the moment of creation. The sound is a blend of musical and rhythmic traditions from around the world, including voice, percussion, spoken word, invented instruments and found objects. The music is embodied by dance artistry with influences from belly dance, flamenco, gypsy dance, Indian dance, modern dance and experimental movement.
From trance-inducing odd time cycles, to exciting rhythmic dance numbers, Loud Zoo is a feast for ears, eyes, and mind. The improvisational base creates a unique Loud Zoo Event every time - a conversation that blends the distinctions between dancers and musicians. Loud Zoo was founded in 2000 by Vonn New, and is now directed by Johanna 'Xenobia' Krynytzky.
